The father of her is Argentine with Scottish-English heritage. Her mother is of Spanish and English ancestry. Taylor-Joy is one of the five children, four are from Taylor's father's prior marriage. Buenos Aires was her home until she turned 6, and the family moved to Victoria within London. Taylor Joy said the move from Buenos Aires to Victoria was tough as she was unable to study English and was hoping to go again to Argentina. Her school had to change from Northlands to Hill House. Later, she enrolled at Queen's Gate School in which she took ballet classes and was involved in school plays. At 16, she quit school in order to concentrate fully on acting. Taylor-Joy has always known that her dream was to be an actress. It was when she achieved that dream, Sarah Doukas founder of Storm Management gave Taylor-Joy an opportunity to model.
