McKayla Rose Maroney (also known as "Mack Air Maroney") is an American known gymnast. She took home gold medals with team US Olympic gymnastics team and a silver individual medal at the Summer Olympic Games in 2012. It was her participation in sport as a young child that inspired McKayla to start the sport of gymnastics. Her forte was vaulting. As the only athlete who has successfully defended her gold medal from her participation in the 2011 World Championships. She was also the winner of the title at the 2013 championships. In 2012, the Olympics were the time she won the silver medal in vault, and she was determined to defend her gold medal in the Rio Olympic Games 2016. But due to an illness or injuries she announced that she would retire before she could compete in the Olympic Games.
